What is a PET-CT Scan?
PET-CT is an advanced nuclear medicine imaging technique that combines:

- CT (Computed Tomography): Provides detailed cross-sectional images of the body’s internal structures

How is the Procedure Performed?
During a PET-CT scan:
- You’ll receive an injection of a radioactive tracer (usually FDG, a form of glucose) that cancer cells absorb more readily than normal cells
- You’ll rest quietly for about an hour while the tracer circulates throughout your body
- You’ll lie on a table that moves through the PET-CT scanner, which resembles a large donut
- The scanner detects signals from the tracer and creates 3D images of your body
- The entire procedure typically takes 2-3 hours, including preparation and scanning time
